Simple Solutions to Common Issues
Before placing a service call to CENTURY Restaurant Services, try these suggestions:
Is the breaker on? Is the unit plugged in?
This is the most common problem. Please check the power supply to your equipment before calling for services.
Is there ice on a coil?
For refrigeration and cooling equipment, you might remedy the problem by turning up the stat to defrost the frozen coil and then resetting the stat to proper setting. This will allow you to keep your product as cold as possible while relieving frozen coils.
Is anything blocking the coil?
Evaluate if there are items blocking either the coil on top of a cooler or plastic over the inside coil. By removing obstructions you may save a service call.
Did you check the thermostat in the affected area?
Make sure the stats are properly set in the affective areas such as reach-in refrigeration, walk-in coolers, and areas affected by A/C & heating equipment.
Are the fans running? Is the air coming out the registers?
By checking the breakers and/or thermostats you might be able to locate and repair the issue quickly.
Have any unusual noises been heard or vibrations felt in the building?
Hats and towels have been known to disappear up into exhaust fans on the roof. By turning off and removing debris, you could save yourself an expensive repair.
Is hot/cold air coming out of the registers?
Make sure the equipment is running and in the proper mode on the thermostat.
What is the temperature in the walk-in cooler/freezer?
If the walk-in door has been propped open for a long period of time or just finished your "rush time", the walk-in might need a little time to recoup.
Did the problem start within the past hour?
On freezers and some coolers, the equipment could be in defrost mode and just needs a little more time to cool down the temp. The air conditioning/heating equipment may need a little more time to over come doors being left opened, start up time, or abnormal traffic load.
